Lack of viable candidates slowing your growth potential?

Cleaning businesses, like many industries, are set for explosive growth in the post-pandemic economy…if only you can hire enough people to sustain the growth.   Normally, when the economy takes a hit, like it certainly did in 2020, hiring becomes the easiest part of running your business.  Unemployment goes up and you are flooded with applications for people looking for work.  You can actually pick and choose who you hire and build a dream team.  But something is different this time and there are many factors to help explain it:

  • Unemployment benefits eliminate incentives to work
  • Fear of COVID-19 keeps some people at home
  • Schools and day-care centers are not yet fully operational in all areas
  • Lack of viable candidates has lead to other industries to increase their wages , so now the competition for candidates has increased exponentially
  • Some people has simply left the workforce because they figured out how to survive without a job during the pandemic

What can you do?

Unfortunately, your options can be a bit limited.  You can’t force people to apply. You certainly can’t force people to show up for their first interview.  So it becomes a numbers game.  To get more viable candidates, you need more people to see your job postings and apply.
